The most populated city in the Cape Verde archipelago, Praia, beach in Cape Verdean Creole and Portuguese, is renowned for its magnificent beaches such as those of Tarrafal or Châo Bom. Praia is also characterized by the place it gives to music. Singing is second nature to Cape Verdeans. Culturally, Praia has rather cosmopolitan characteristics, the influence of Africa is felt throughout the city.
